    Bio

    Michelle “Breeze” Johnson is currently the Sr. Director of Music Programming & Talent Relations for BET Networks and a leading female executive in the music industry. Throughout her television and radio career, Breeze has had over 15 years of experience working with record labels, artists & celebrity talent, establishing strong relationships in the entertainment industry, and programming all genres of music for multiple platforms. In her current role at BET, she heads up and oversees all music programming & strategy, branded music initiatives and multi-platform music content for BET Music Networks & platforms which include: BET HER, BET Jams, BET Soul, BET Hip Hop, BET Gospel, BET Caribbean, BET Canada, BET Pluto and SVOD. Breeze also leads negotiations and oversees curation of BET music playlists with our Digital Streaming partners including: Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, Tidal and Audiomack. Breeze handles Talent & Label Relations, Talent Strategy and Talent Booking for BET tentpoles, ancillary executions/activations, shows, etc. on a global network scale, across multiple platforms. In her role, Breeze continues to maintain strong relationships with superstar & emerging artists, film & television actors, social influencers & celebrities, professional athletes, luminaries, etc. and their teams.

     

    Breeze has been at VIACOM networks - Vh1 and BET, over 10 years and has worked on various productions/mega-specials including: BET Awards, Black Girls Rock, VMA's, Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony, Hip Hop Honors, DIVAS, Vogue Fashion Awards, Soul Train Awards, etc. In her former position as Senior Manager of Programming & Talent Relations for Music Choice, Breeze was responsible for the launch and programming of SWRV - their first ever 24/7 interactive multi-platform, multi-genre video network, as well as, the Talent Relations/Booking for all platforms and products at Music Choice.

     

    Breeze has an extensive background in music programming and talent relations that stretches from

    her former days in radio to her recent positions in television. Johnson began her career at

    Radio One, Inc. the largest urban radio broadcasting company in the Unites States.

    • Book stellar music and celebrity talent (i.e. superstar & emerging artists, film & television actors, social influencers, athletes, luminaries, etc.) on a global network scale throughout all BETN including: Linear, Experiential (Live Events/Festivals), Digital, Social, Brand Creative, Ad Sales, etc.
    • Work closely with Executive Producers on the creative process & production of shows, specials, tentpoles with respect to talent integrations, performances, and in-show executions

    • Work with BET International on global initiatives to expand the music brands and audiences worldwide (i.e. placement of BET Soul & BET Jams in BET PLAY App making them available in over 100 countries)

    • Constantly build, nurture, and maintain relationships in the entertainment industry (record labels, talent mgmt., publicists, agencies, movie studios, music publishers, etc.)

    • Planned and programmed music video hours on Vh1 and also launched Vh1 Soul music network which included programming all music videos, on-air promos, graphics packaging, stunts (artist hosted video blocks, themed & marathon programming, long-form specials/acquisitions, etc.)
